Place and Edit Spot Levels

Place Spot Level

To place new LAND4 Spot Levels:

  1. Go to:
    • LAND4/Group Palettes/Show Spot Levels Palette, or
    • LAND4 Palette/Spot Levels
  2. Press Place Spot Level button.
  3. Insert z-value in Place Spot Level dialog.
  4. Use pen to select x,y-location on plane.

Height input

If you tick Keep focus in height input in the Place Spot Level dialog, the input text field will stay highlighted, enabling you to add z-values for new Spot Levels easy and fast.

Input unit, default

When placing a Spot Level, the default input unit is decided by Lenght Units set in Working Units in ARCHICAD.

Display unit, custom

Custom Spot Level input unit for active canvases can be set in Model View Options/Options for LAND4/Spot Level Display Units.

Spot Level Text

When placing a LAND4 Spot Level, Spot Level text representing the Spot Level z-value is automatically placed near the Spot Level marker.

The function Place Spot Level Text with separate input enables you to place a Spot Level Text in another location than that of its associated Spot Level marker. The two elements stay interdependent.

Default placement

Default setting when you open your Spot Level Palette, is Place Spot Level Text without separate input. Text and marker will be placed together.

Place text away from marker

To place a Spot Level text in a location other than that of its associated Spot Level marker:

  1. Go to:
    • LAND4/Group Palettes/Show Spot Levels Palette, or
    • LAND4 Palette/Spot Levels
  2. Press Place Spot Level Text with separate input button.

  1. Press Place Spot Level.
  2. Insert z-value in Place Spot Level dialog.
  3. Use pen to select x,y-location for Spot Level marker on plane.
  4. Use hammer to select the location for Spot Level text (representing Spot Level z-value).

Hide or show Spot Level texts

To hide or show Spot Level texts:

  1. Go to:
    • LAND4/Group Palettes/Show Spot Levels Palette, or
    • LAND4 Palette/Spot Levels
  2. Press Hide/Show Spot Level texts button.

3D representation

LAND4 Spot Levels are shown as three-dimensional crosses in 3D view:

Edit Spot Level

LAND4 Spot Levels can be edited using the built-in ARCHICAD functions. You can edit Spot Levels:

  • in 2D
  • in 3D
  • individually, and
  • in groups.

In 3D-view, Spot Levels are shown as three-dimensional crosses and can be moved/dragged along any axis.


Gravity Tool

With the LAND4 Gravity Tool, new Spot Levels can be placed based on existing LANDSurfaces.

  1. Select LANDSurface.
  2. Go to:
    • LAND4/Group Palettes/Show Spot Levels Palette, or
    • LAND4 Palette/Spot Levels
  3. Press Place Spot Level.
  4. Press Gravity Tool button in Place Spot Level dialog – input text field greys out.
  5. Hover over selected LANDSurface – its z-value will show in the greyed out input field.
  6. Use Pen tool to place Spot Level. The new Spot Level will adopt the LANDSurface z-value in the selected location.
